Vehicles That Save You Gas

When I'm stuck in traffic like this, I like to think there's some better way of getting around.

The open road is great when there's no traffic, but much of the time we could do better by using a bus or a coach.

It's not glamorous, for sure, but a small motorbike costs next to nothing to drive. And in warm dry weather, it's even fun.

Get better vehicle gas mileage, or do away with your vehicle.

Better vehicle gas mileage is achievable, as long as you are willing to make some intelligent compromises in your choice of motor vehicle. Sadly, there is no technology at present which will give us all the power and speed we have become accustomed to while saving gas and providing better miles per gallon. It would be great, but please don't hold your breath while waiting for it.

Saving gas will naturally save you money in operating costs, but it usually means changing to a smaller and 'greener' car or truck. That's something most Americans have been loathe to do, even though the writing has been on the wall, so to speak, for decades.

Now the whole world faces an economic downturn, with countless people losing their jobs and many losing their homes. And as these bleak financial circumstances put the brakes on consumer spending, so manufacturers and retailers everywhere have been cutting back on even more staff. So the vicious circle continues.

Everybody is doing their best to cut spending, and this includes the everyday costs of running your motor vehicle or automobile. Anything to save money on commuting and travel must be a good thing, don't you agree? Certainly while times are hard...

If you can trade, swap or buy your way to a smaller, more economical vehicle, I reckon now is the time to do it. The big gas guzzlers we used to enjoy are being sold off at unheard of discounts, but few people want them. Because we have no idea how long things will remain bleak for us all. And in hard times, saving money on gasoline and everything else is important.

If driving to work or study is by choice, but public transport is available to you, then consider taking the public transport. You can do this for a couple of days a week, and that will save you gasoline and save some wear and tear on your vehicle. Then, if you can live without the car, consider getting rid of it. You will save money, you will also be boosting the public transport system in a small way too, and you'll be feeling better about yourself.

If you don't own your own home and just rent, then consider moving where you live so you can walk to work (or study) each day. Then you don't have to have a car at all. And by walking to work, you'll be getting fitter too.

Or you may even consider a two-wheeled vehicle to save money, such as a motor scooter or motorcycle, or even a push-bike. A bicycle will certainly make you fit as well... that's an added bonus. Just be sure to chain it up well, or it will likely be stolen!

Don't spend the money you have saved. Use that money to pay off your credit cards or other high-interest debt. That's the most positive thing you can do with it.

Car pooling is a good idea, but it helps if you all live close-by. Doesn't it?

Good point about not spending the money you're already saved. Nice view of the Big Picture!

Thanks, Nicomp. It can be hard saving money in the best of times. But I don't think it has ever been more important than now to be frugal. Tell me, how on earth have you managed to create so many hubs in a mere two months? I am very impressed.
