Lose weight and keep it off with this simple diet and exercise plan

Losing weight is always done by changing the balance between what you eat (fuel) and the calories you burn (energy). So losing body fat fast gets done by reducing the food you eat and/or burning more energy (sugar and fat) by exercising more.

Understand this, and it will help you lose weight. Sugar is just as bad for weight loss as is fat. Consider even a no-sugar, no-flour diet. It really helps kick-start rapid weight loss. When you have any type of sugar in your blood, that sugar is just unburned energy. You can either burn it off by exercise, or else the energy gets stored in your body as fat. Body fat is just energy that's been stored for future use.

All those candy bars the manufacturers so love to promote as "energy bars" could more accurately be termed FAT BARS -- but then they wouldn't sell so many then, would they?

The problem is that inactive people never burn off this stored energy... they just store more and more of it every time they eat.

Good news for men, bad news for women


The good news for men is that we can usually lose body fat by either one of these methods. The bad news for women, is that females usually have to do both - follow a sensible weight-loss diet and increased your calorie-burning exercise - in order to lose weight successfully.

For fastest loss of body fat, I recommend doing both exercise and diet, not just one or the other. This is difficult to do on your own, but much easier and far more likely to succeed when you have a training partner to keep you company while you diet and exercise. You can encourage each other and help one another to stay focused on losing body fat fast - and in keeping it off afterwards.

While there are many types of weight-loss diet to select from, personally I like a low-carbohydrate weight-loss diet that is high in fruits and vegetables.

Raw fruits are much healthier than just the juice


Fresh fruits and vegetables provide your body with the vitamins, minerals and roughage that it needs. This is better than drinking juice, because with fruit and vege juices the roughage has been removed, and that is half the healthy benefit from these healthy natural foods. Protein while you are losing weight with this low-carb diet can come from eggs, fish, tofu or white meat (chicken or turkey).

Red meats are not a good idea if you want to lose weight and keep it off. If you really must eat red meat, I'd suggest you save those steaks and roasts for special occasions only.

As for the protein intake at each meal, limit yourself to a maximum of 6 oz of fish or meat, or 2 eggs. Females should take less or they won't lose weight. 4 oz protein is fine for women and girls.

Stick with 1 egg or 4 oz of fish or meat. Otherwise cut the meat altogether and just eat fruit and vegetables (max 2 cups or 500 cc measured). Get your proteins from beans. Millions of people around the world where meat is too expensive do this already. They are probably healthier than most north Americans, too.

Sugars are bad for you, truly

Stay away from sugars of all kinds, including honey, and avoid anything with added flour or thickening in gravy, soups or sauces. And cut out bread.

Do that and your body will be very close to losing wight if it isn't already shedding pounds... Then increase your daily exercise to burn fat, and you will be losing weight and getting fitter.

How to exercise for free


Go for a walk every day, for half an hour. You should walk at a brisk pace - enough to make you sweat a little. But do not run. That places stress on your shins and feet that you really don't need.

If you are in a nice (safe) neighborhood and the weather is pleasant, you will get the most benefit from walking out of doors. But if that isn't an option for you, head for a large shopping mall and walk around the place from end to end, covering all the floors. And walk up the stairs while you can, it is better to burn a few more calories than to use the elevators all the time.

Believe me, if you do the diet and exercise like I describe in this article, and stick at it, then you will lose fat fast. You can bank on it.
